Chailendu K. Pegues is Vice President for Legislative and Legal Affairs. Prior to assuming his present position, Mr. Pegues held a number of senior professional positions in law, government, and public policy.
Specifically, Mr. Pegues served as Director of the International Trade Division for the State of Washington. He managed international trade issues as Legislative Counsel to the Progressive Policy Institute; Senior Legislative
Assistant to U.S. Senator Carol Moseley-Braun; and Counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy. Mr. Pegues also served as a Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary for International Economic Policy, U.S. Department
of Commerce and as an International Business Consultant to the District of Columbia Office of International Business. He practiced law as an Associate-Attorney with a private law firm and as an Attorney-Advisor with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Mr. Pegues was
Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the DC City Council and managing director for a management consulting firm. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force as a Sergeant after completing five years of active duty service.
Mr. Pegues is a graduate of Occidental College and holds an MA degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, and a Juris Doctor from the University of California Boat Hall School of
Law. Mr. Pegues has also studied at The Taipei Language Institute (Taiwan) and Waseda University (Japan).
Mr. Pegues is a published author, consultant and frequent speaker on domestic and international public policy issues.
